Frequently Asked Questions

What is slow jogging?
Slow jogging (超慢跑) is a gentle running technique where you jog at a very relaxed pace, typically at 140–180 steps per minute. It is low-impact and suitable for all fitness levels.
Can I use Pace without the Apple Watch?
Yes. The iPhone app is fully standalone. The Apple Watch companion is optional and adds workout tracking via HealthKit.
Does Pace work in the background?
Yes. Pace uses background audio mode so the metronome and ambient sounds keep playing when you lock your phone or switch to another app.
How do I change the tempo?
Tap one of the 5 BPM presets on the main screen: 140, 150, 160, 170, or 180 steps per minute.
Does Pace collect any data?
No. All your preferences and session history are stored locally on your device. Nothing is sent to any server.
What iOS version do I need?
Pace requires iOS 17 or later.

Troubleshooting

No sound is playing

Make sure your iPhone is not in Silent Mode (check the physical switch on the side). Also verify that the volume is turned up and no Bluetooth audio device is unexpectedly connected.

Haptic feedback is not working

Check that System Haptics is enabled in Settings > Sounds & Haptics. Some older devices may have limited haptic support.

Live Activity is not showing on the Lock Screen

Go to Settings > Face ID & Passcode and ensure Live Activities is enabled. Also check Settings > Pace > Live Activities.

The Apple Watch app is not syncing

Make sure both devices are on the same Apple ID, the Watch app is installed, and Bluetooth is enabled. Restart both devices if the issue persists.

Audio stops when the screen locks

This should not happen as Pace uses background audio. Try force-closing the app and reopening it. If the issue persists, check that Low Power Mode is not restricting background activity.
